At the foot of the podium

Motul
15 September

The 5th staging of the Isle of Man Classic TT, where Motul is the official lubricant partner, was seriously disturbed by the weather conditions. The Superbike category race was for instance postponed till 29 August. Michael Dunlop, one of the major favourites with his GSXR1100 XR69 of team Classic Suzuki, knew straightaway in lap one that he wouldn't win the event for the fourth time. Suffering technical problems he soon retired to the paddock while his team-mate, Danny Webb, saved the honour of the team managed by Steve Wheatman by bagging 9th place.

Team York Suzuki/Motul Oils took over the fight for the podium. This structure created by former rider Kevin Pearson likes Motul products so much that its Facebook profile photo is the 300V logo itself!

5th in lap one, its rider David 'Davo' Johnson rose to 2nd place in lap two before being caught up by two contenders and finishing at the foot of the podium. Johnson hails from Adelaïde in Australia and his first appearance in the Tourist Trophy was back in 2010. He won then in the rookies 'Newcomers' race. Five years later he discovered the Classic spin-off of the most famous of road events.

His namesake and team-mate, Gary 'Gazza' Johnson, experienced less success. The Lincolnshire ace managed to cover only two of the four laps before having to retire.
