SHERCO UNVEILS ITS STUNNING NEW TRIALS BIKE FOR 2023

06 October
Edit

Sherco is one of the biggest names in trials riding. Fresh off the back of a raft of victories this year – and a few world championships along the way – the French brand has unveiled its new trials bike for 2023. More power, less weight, a fresh new design and a host more changes make this the bike to be on next year. Let’s take a look at some of the bike’s standout features and improvements.

More power from a new air filter
Sherco has given the bike more power at low revs, more torque and improved throttle response thanks to a new air filtration system. The volume of the air filter box has been increased by 7% while the air filter surface is up 11%.

Weight reduction
Miraculously, the new Sherco trials bike’s engine has been reduced in weight by 4.5kg, a 28% reduction. The weight loss programme didn’t end there. A lighter crankshaft, gearbox and gear selector, frame, swing arm and suspension, and optimised design for the triple clamps means the new bike weights in 4.95kgs lighter than before.

Fuel injection for greater efficiency
Sherco has added fuel injection to its trials bikes. The new throttle body, which is 32mm in diameter, has three sensors to improve efficiency, flow response and fuel consumption. In addition, a new reed case has been designed to optimise the gas flow in the intake and improve power at low revs.

Oil maintenance has been made easier
The oil capacity has now been reduced to 450ml and maintenance and fill has been simplified with a magnesium clutch cover that has an oil level window. As Sherco’s main partner, all bikes will come pre-filled with Motul lubricants and Sherco recommends the continued use of Motul products.

Thomas Teissier, general manager of Sherco, previously said of the partnership: “The ‘Casted, drilled and filled’ philosophy Motul is so well known for also applies to our partnership. We use Motul’s industrial oils and lubrications for machine cutting, crankcases and other applications. Also, the oil we use for the first fill before the first engine start is specifically tailored to our engineers’ engine quality requirements. This is all part of the industrial partnership we concluded with Motul. But the partnership goes deeper than only delivering products. Sherco’s and Motul’s engineers collaborate in our factory to tailor make the oil we need for our bikes. It’s an exceptional collaboration which goes beyond a standard client-supplier relations. We look at Motul as a structural partner in our manufacturing process and bike assembly line.”

Designed for the tough stuff
The Sherco trials bike also got a new look for 2023. From a sleeker headlight design, to a new rear fender to keep mud off the rider, as well as new steel footpegs that have been repositioned for more stability, the changes all add up to a bike that’s not just better to look at, but better to ride, too.
