Oldschool soviet motoracing movie

Motul
03 November

„Playful Turns“ — unique film for the late fifties in the Soviet Union. If it were not for the frequent mention of Tallinn, the Soviet auto and motor parks in the frame and the flashing names of the ships written in Cyrillic, one could easily think that the action takes place in the Spa, or in Le Mans, perhaps not in 1959, but few years earlier. According to technology, equipment, and clothes, there are no direct signs of the USSR. People are smiling, they love, they are eager for sports achievements, they are looking for happiness in life, just like everywhere else.

Versions of the poster.

The atmosphere of the 50's races is well-conveyed, when in helmets-halves and leather overalls, where from protection only the second layer of leather on the seat is not rubbed against the motorcycle, people roll like crazy on a narrow uneven track fenced with concrete pillars. In extremely dangerous places, a bag of hay, tied to a column, replaces the current departure zone with gravel. The drivers of the past are caste of desperate and fearless people, and those who worked as a balancer in a pram carriage are people entirely made of titanium alloy!

Motorcycles-singles are built, mainly based on DKW 125.

Heavy sidecar - produced in the USSR flat-engine Ural.

If you like retro-motocycles and want to feel the racing spirit of a middle of a century, then you have to watch this movie:
