World Championship Snowmobile Watercross
The thrill of racing snowmobiles over water has attracted thousands of spectators over the years. Grantsburg's three days of racing features the top racers from the United States and Canada, each hoping to capture the World Champion honor and the large cash prize.
Watercross has truly become a family event. Spectators come in all age groups, getting together to not only enjoy the racing but all of the other activities. We provide security, plenty of rest room facilities, lots of food , medical personnel on hand, and you'll find Grantsburg to be an extremely friendly community. Engine components must remain OEM stock for the model. The maximum power of snowmobiles starts at 600 and increases up to 1200 depending on the class. Participants use BRP Ski-doo, Polaris ect.
The racing portion of Watercross includes drag and oval racing over water on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Races start about 12:00 noon Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and run until about 4:30 p.m. The races are sanctioned by the International Watercross Association (IWA), the professional racing group. The Grantsburg Watercross is the "World Championship" race within the IWA racing circuit (iwausa.org) , and our race is known as the "Granddaddy of Them All" by the racers. As the event is an outdoor event we wish for great weather each year and Mother Nature usually grants our wishes.
Open your mind and look on crazy guys on snowmobile in water!
